F I R E N Z E ⚜️ is just the cutest!! Merry Christmas friends!

Finally made it back to my favorite F I R E N Z E ⚜️ !!!

Day trip from Milan to Como. Hiked to the lighthouse above the town of Brunate for this view of Lake Como.

‘Tis the season at #châteaugrettenberger

Happy Thanksgiving from the Kudela family!

R O C A M A D O U R Love this local old saying of the medieval cliff-side village that sums it up perfectly : ‘Houses on the river, churches on the houses, rocks on the churches, castle on the rock’. #rocamadour #france #dordogne

Drove north a couple hours and found this fairytale town of Carennac. Weekend adventure exploring what I like to call ‘French France’, aka basically anywhere in France that’s not Basque Country - the cobblestoned France my dreams are made of. I still can’t believe there are places like this so close to ‘home’. Photo + trip planned by travel agent @bgrettenberger #touristsforlife #baguettenberger #carennac #france

Very B L U E out there today!

cozy days at home sweet home #châteaugrettenberger

Morning run golden hour Take advantage of these sunny mornings while we still have ‘em!

ants on a log in the fog

The best kind of happy hour. I hope we can keep these sunset beach sessions going through November! #grandeplage #biarritz

“Dude, did you SEE those set waves I got?!” Love @bgrettenberger post-surf stoke... warm fall days and perfect, huge waves - he’s a happy man!

Sunrise run view. It’s rare I make it out before the sun comes up, but when I do, it’s always worth it. Bon week-end, friends!

Foggy fall mornings are so beautiful, and even more beautiful when we know the sun is coming out soon! #cotedesbasques

Operation Hike-Every-Weekend-Before-Rainy-Season starts now! Weekend adventure hiking to the top of Txindoki in Spain. Basque Country takes my breath away, so good to spend some much-needed time in nature this weekend. #txindoki #spain #basquecountry

Love when she glows in the morning light #villabelza

Merci beaucoup to everyone who stopped by to check out the @panthalassa_org Plastic Family at the #cotedesbasques in #biarritz this weekend! Follow along at @panthalassa_org to find out where the family is heading next!

This is how the ocean sees us. ~ I’ve been working on ‘The Plastic Family’ with @panthalassa_org , collecting plastic trash from local beaches in France & Spain. We used the plastic to ‘dress’ the family, to help raise awareness about the plastic problem the ocean is facing. ~ The Plastic Family will be at the Côte des Basques in Biarritz tomorrow (where I found a lot of the plastic used in this project!), September 15, from 1-4pm. If you’re in town come by to say hi and check out the family in person! ~ Read more about our project at panthalassa.com (link in bio)

Love that misty morning fall light à la #cotedesbasques

Happiness is... summertime in the south of ITALIA! Tropea beach scene as scene from Santa Maria dell’Isola. ⛱ #tropea #italia

T R O P E A, I T A L Y Road trip stop No. 6 just might be one of our new favorite summer destinations ever! It had all of our favorite things : crystal clear water, colorful striped umbrellas, boat rentals, great snorkeling, dramatic cliff-side views, but with even better food! Also we were told it’s summertime here from March - November... so of course I’m already plotting how we can get back to this amazing place next year! #tropea #calabria #italia

The center of the old city of Matera is down in a valley below two hills covered in the ancient Stassi, rising up on both sides. The is the opposite side, facing the hill in my first photo I posted, with the famous church in the background. I really loved this city and already can’t wait to plan another trip back to spend more time exploring the underground caves! Photo by @bgrettenberger #Matera #Italia #Italy

The ancient city of Matera, Italy ~ Road trip stop No. 5, Matera, is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, with people currently living in the same location their ancestors did over 9000 years ago (with some renovations, of course)! This city has a pretty incredible history. It’s known as the underground city, famous for it’s Sassi, or underground caves, carved into the rocks in the hill, with homes now built around the caves. The homes are stacked one on top of another with a huge maze of underground caves that consist of houses, churches, and now shops and restaurants. Winding cobblestone walkways connect all the levels, it was so fun wandering and exploring. #matera #basilicata #italia

Beach umbrella game on point in the city of Otranto ⛱ ~ Road trip stop No. 4 was the city of Otranto, in Puglia, on the East side at the very bottom of the boot heel. The old town of the city was built within castle walls and overlooked a port and this beautiful bay with shallow, swimming-pool-like water. Everyone could walk out waist deep and stroll from end to end. It was packed but also so relaxing. #otranto #puglia #italia

Cruising the streets of cute ALBEROBELLO #alberobello #puglia #italia

The second stop on our road trip was the cute town of Alberobello in Puglia. This town is famous for these cute round trullo houses that of course look extra cute with a little Fiat parked next to them! The Trulli were constructed back in the 15th century and were built this way because the peasants living on the land were forced to build their homes without using mortar, stones only, so they could be easily knocked down when the tax collector came around. Some Trulli are still standing today, with the largest concentration here in this little town. Alberobello is pretty touristy now, but we had fun exploring all the little streets, and ate the BEST thing we’ve had on this trip so far - a panini from a local shop here with prosciutto, smoked burrata and fresh figs. We’re definitely coming back to France 10 lbs heavier after this trip! #alberobello #puglia #italia

This famous spot is where they host the @redbullcliffdiving competition off the top of those buildings into that epic little swimming hole... crazy! Would love to see that in person, but there’s probably more people here for that than there is in peak August. #polignanoamare

Our road trip of southern Italy continues as I try to blend in with the rest of the Italians. After eating Burrata for breakfast (if it's offered why not?) I made @beccalovesart leave early to beat the rush. We snagged a spot just in time!

Escaping the crowds via paddle boat... the best views are always from out on the water! Love all the buildings built directly onto the cliffs in #polignanoamare

Only about one week left for these cute stripes! ⛱ They make me so happy when I see them every morning. #grandeplage #biarritz

that pre-storm aqua blue

Morning trash haul found on the beaches between Port des Pêcheurs and Plage du Miramar in #Biarritz . Tons of trash is still washing up, even without the massive winter storms, so pick up a few pieces next time you’re enjoying a day à la plage! #cleanyobeach #beachcleanup

peak season crowds à la plage #grandeplage #biarritz

Hot summer weekend in the South of France view... let’s go swimming! #plagedumiramar #biarritz #france #35mm

Loved this festive umbrella street at the Fêtes de BAYONNE #ruedesparapluies #fêtesdebayonne

take me back to le week-end

Not today, but wishing it was... (because it’s raining, of course) See more 35mm snapshots of a sunnier day at Plage du Miramar on the blog. baguettenberger.com
